Willow
Bank Spring Beer Festival 2010
With
the Liverpool Beer Festival out of the way for another year
we climb out of the crypt blinking and looking for
somewhere else to festival (yes I have turned it in to a
verb). Both warmer and airier (and less ticketed) we have
found something just around the corner for you to look
forward to, it's the
Spring Beer Festival
at the
Willow Bank,
Smithdown Road.

It
will be held over the Easter weekend, Friday 2nd to Sunday
5th April, 2010. Where there will be approximately 40 real
ales over the three days plus a selection of draft ciders
and perrys.
Campaigns
Whether
the coming General Election is something that gets your
juices flowing or drives you to numbness it is an
opportunity to get your voice out to new and (you would
expect) more dynamic and interested representatives.
National CAMRA have taken this opportunity to develop on
the communication strategy with our current, wannabe and
future representatives. Make your voice heard. Check out
the Campaigns page for more information.

Liverpool
Beer Festival 2010
The
beer festival has been and gone. It was another enjoyable
and successful three nights and two days of beer, food and
music. It received some nice reviews in the press and there
was little but smiling faces seen as the lucky number with
the tickets went in and came out.
Some pictures to follow, so keep your eye on the Festival
page for those.

Well thought out proposals No. 3647, this time from the BMA
The
British Medical Association (BMA)
has published a new report proposing a draconian clampdown
on alcohol and pubs.
Rather than proposing targeted measures to help the small
minority of people who misuse alcohol, the BMA have taken a
heavy handed blanket approach that will harm responsible
drinkers and community pubs. The report proposes
vastly increasing the tax on alcohol through
above-
inflation rises in alcohol duty and introducing a new
alcohol levy. It further demands a reduction in pub opening
hours which could mean a
return to a uniform 11pm, or earlier, closing time.
CAMRA has launched a petition to the Prime Minister calling
on the Government to reject these proposals and to support
the interests of the responsible, sensible majority of
moderate drinkers.
It is vital that we get as many signatures as possible in
order to ensure a government response on this important
issue, so please ask
your family, friends and fellow CAMRA members to show their
support for the campaign here.
